3 Companies?

There are 3 distinct services when beginning a new web project. These are often handled by 3 separate companies. Several years ago, we only did design. But after having to help several customers with problems related to having a “big company” domain registrar or host, we decided to branch into those areas too. To explain these differences, we’ll separate those three areas and explain what each does.

The first thing you do when you decide to get a web site is to select a domain name. There are several ways to handle this but some common choices would be your company name or product followed by “.com” or ".net". For example, johndoe.com or widgets.com. You’ll need to do a search to determine if your name has been taken. If it isn’t, you’ll need to register that name with a registrar at which time the’right to use’ that name becomes yours until such time as you cease to pay for it..

Start Your Domain Name Search Here
Enter a Domain Name:
www.

Once you’ve decided on a name and know you want to develop a website, you’ll need someone to host it. When you type in www.widgets.com, you are taken to a website. A website is simply a collection of files, similar to the word documents in your My Documents folder on your machine. There is a computer somewhere that has filed the documents which make up what is known as widgets.com. That computer is known as a server. Whoever is responsible for that server, making sure there is electricity, a connection to the Internet, and maintaining the physical components, is considered the hosting company. Someone has to host your website or it can’t be found when someone types in your domain name.
Us here at JoSon Consulting understand that we have 2 types of customers. The first type of customer does not want to take time from daily schedules to design, build and maintain a website. The second type of customer is willing and wants to take on the extra task of working with the company website.
JoSon Consulting has set up solutions for both types of customers.  Our service for our first type of customer is to assume all tasks involved with operations of a website.

Lastly you’ll need someone to design your website. You need someone who can guide you through deciding what message your site should convey. You need someone with the expertise to develop a quality website that will give you the advantage over your competitors. A website should be visually interesting, easy to navigate, and offer information the user needs.

Not to add confusion, but you may also need someone to handle your site's search engine submission and site marketing plans. These tasks can all potentially be four different companies. We do all four jobs or if you have already hired someone to do one or more of them, we can work with those companies and do the jobs you’ve not yet already hired out. All the design work and careful selection of names or development of content is useless if the end user can't find you. We have a superior record with search engine placement and welcome the opportunity to demonstrate our success.
